Early morning Rainbow Trout Fishing

Lake Ballinger is one of our standby 'go to' spots when other plans have crapped out. With no Steelhead in the rivers yet and Puget Sound not open, Thomas and I headed out onto Ballinger for some early morning Rainbow Trout fishing.

Our basic technique this time out was to drag small floating or suspending plugs right at the surface to get some strikes out of these fish.  This seems to week exceptionally well when the sun is rising or setting, and the fish can get a good look at the lures without being blinded by the sun.

It was a great morning of fishing overall, even if I did manage to bury a hook in my hand!
