Fly fishing isn't just for REI loving Yuppies or hardcore Spey rod freaks.  Often overlooked is the good old trolled fly, and it looks like we have found some good ones!  Graham over at Grand Slam Bucktails was nice enough to send us over some to try out.  Honestly I haven't told any of the other crew that we have these yet because I don't want to have to fight to hang on to them.

So what is the big deal?  Well, if no one has told you, trolled flies catch big fish!  From Lake Trout to Salmon, trolling bucktails is one of the best ways to pull them in.  I especially like the Grand Slam Bucktails because they are tough, and come in the sizes and colors that catch fish.  Plus all of their lures glow in the dark!

One more thing to love is that they don't come pre-rigged or have hooks tied into them.  If you are like me, and a real fiend about what hooks you are using, this is great!  Tie up the brand, style and size of hook you want and thread it on.  No more wondering if the hooks that came with your flies are worth crap!

The huge item for me is that they make a 6" Magnum trolling fly!  I have looked around and there and haven't found many places you can get a big trolling fly for Trout and Salmon.  Remember that big fish like to have big meals.  The really big fish don't want to chase itty bitty snacks.

OK, enough writing for me, it is time to get these things out in the field and put them to use!

Till next time,

Cliff

P.S.  Don't tell them or they might get wise and raise their prices, but I think they are a really good buy.  GO BUY SOME NOW!
