I have dropped in on Big Fish Tackle from time to time, and their daily fishing cartoon has been on our site for a long time, but I wanted to point out that they have a lot of cool features and stuff worth looking at.
Personally I like the ‘win free fishing tackle’ stuff. There is also local fishing news, reports, fishing articles and lots more. So quit hanging out here (but come back at some point) and get over to Big Fish Tackle and see what they have going on!

Winter is in full effect and I know we are all hunkered down and staying indoors, which begs the question ‘what do I do now?’ As long as the mail is still running you can get a new book delivered and learn something new about fishing so you are better prepared when things start thawing out again! One of the first Steelhead oriented fishing books I purchased, Washington’s Best Fishing Waters is a great start for noob Steelhead fishermen (and women if they exist) that want to get out and catch Steelhead, but don’t know where to go. The maps in this book coupled with Google Maps can lead you to some great fishing locations!

OK, I haven’t Fools Paradise yet, but it is on my list of books to pick up when I get a chance.
Gierach gets back to the basics of fishing in a collection of personal essays in which he contends that fishing is as much about being outdoors with a few friends who share the same passion as it is about catching fish. Of course, he still thrills at the fish’s strike and he lands his fair share of them, but he spends as much time describing other aspects of the sport: getting there, what to do in foul weather, camping etiquette and predicting hatches.
