Our kayak box trailer was stolen at 21:36 last Friday 16th December. Details are as follows, but we have CCTV film of the thieves using bolt cutters to gain entry through the gates to the centre. They were very well prepared and had little difficulty removing the security devices securing the trailer. The thieves also removed the registration plate which suggests they had their own to match the vehicle used to tow the trailer away.

Location: National Waterways Museum (aka The Boat Museum), South Pier Road, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, CH65 5FW (just off J9, M53).

Make: Ifor Williams Trailers Ltd

Model: BV126

Construction: Fully galvanized chassis and framework, resin-coated timber platform, GRP sides, translucent GRP roof.

Specifications: Internal Length: 3600mm (142"/12’), Internal Width: 1730mm (68"/6’), Headroom: 2140mm (84"/7’)
Colour: White

Axle: Braked Twin Axle

Serial Number: 542398

Chassis Number: 8-39396

Crime Reference: 0711 357 450

There is customised racking inside the trailer designed to hold 18 kayaks (horizontally) on three rails as well as a storage cupboard (again customised) at the front of the trailer which houses an electrical 2-way consumer unit, power inverter and 13 amp socket. Entry to the rear of the trailer is via a full height rolling shutter door. The floor to ceiling height is 7’ the roof of which contains two extractor fans designed to extract moisture from inside. Combing this feature with the twin axle and overall size of the trailer makes it very noticeable from the outside.

Any information can be reported to Cheshire Police (quoting: 0711 357 450): Telephone 0845 458 0000 or myself on: 0797 317 8697.

Any help in recovering the trailer is greatly appreciated.

I would just keep checking their job search page every week. Pretty soon they should be hiring the sales and stocking staff. I know they have already done some management hiring ads. In the mean time I would work on your resume and have someone help you tweak it to make you as attractive as possible to them. Don't forget to include your practical experience in outdoor stuff as well as your work history.

Comment on Trolling for Rainbow Trout Using a Dodger by Cliff

Size will make a difference depending on what you are fishing for. If you are fishing for Trout, you can have some pretty big fish eat a very small lure. My habit is to start fairly small and adjust as needed. On small lakes for trout under 20" or so, I would stick with the 005, 006, 007 set. Once Trout get over ~20" they start hunting other fish as opposed to bugs and you may need to change up size again.
Talking about flasher size, the difference between the two is how much action you want, what you are trolling, and how much flash you want/need. In general I like a smaller flasher for smaller lake trout. Bigger flashers are just harder to troll and get in the way of fighting the fish. Again though, if you are targeting bigger fish with bigger lures, you will want to up-size the flasher.
Trolling speed is a hard one. I start out slow, just fast enough to get the lure and flasher going. If that doesn't work, I speed up until I am getting hits. Sometimes they just like a lure that is trucking along. Big thing is lure action. Drag a KwikFish too fast and it loses the proper action.

I appreciate your insight regarding fishing techniques but what I find troubling is that very few commentators will actually follow there knowledge from beginning to end i.e. when fishing for trout you say to try kwikfish but fail to say what size. Does the size of kwikfish determine the size of fish that you're after? If so, please indicate and I'll adjust accordingly. Its much like when I ask my wife how long she's going to be gone and she replies "not long", That doesn't tell me anything. Same thing with the size of dodgers Does a 3/0 determine the size of fish that you're after or is it the combination of several factors that is needed to get the end result versus a 4/0 i.e. or is for speed?
