Sir as x comercial salmon netman in north wales, I would like someone to answer my question about the decline in the salmon runs of late, I fished the sea for over 25 years but found that there was a decline in the salmon runs, Most of the comercial fishing have now stoped for conservation, when I left the comercial fishing I started to fly fish in rivers and lakes,I took a great intrest in the rainbow trout and bought a book on their habits etc,In one book it stated that the rainbow could not be eaten in the winter months so the lakes had to close down but someone came up with a way to make them triploids and sexless and the way they done this was to shock the eggs,When the eggs hatched the fish would be starial and could not produce any eggs, NOW to my thinking this method of shocking the rivers etc has been going on for years to collect spawn for commercial breeding,
I wonder what had happened to the eggs already spawned on the beds in which electric was used, Do this for say 20 years around the world– wont be long before you have nothing but sexless triploids and a no return on our salmon runs,
    comments please, Dave,
