Lake Bosworth is one of the many fishable lowland lakes in Western Washington.
At an appreciable 102 acres, it is big enough to hold a reasonable number of fish, but still be small enough to fish from a small boat, float tube or pontoon boat. Three miles south of Granite Falls, Bosworth has the feel of driving to the toolies, but like many of these small lakes, is ringed by houses and docks.
Access is via the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife public boat launch on the northwest corner, and is about what you would expect with a concrete ramp and pit toilet for amenities. Of course no motors are allowed on the lake.
Bosworth Lake Fish Species
Bosworth is fished primarily for Rainbow Trout and Largemouth Bass. The trout are planted every year with it receiving 11,000 Rainbow Trout in the spring of 2011. Other reports suggest that there are other fish in there too, but nothing is confirmed, so if you know of Perch, Sunfish and so on being in Bosworth, please leave a comment!
How to Fish Bosworth Lake
Nothing too exciting here. Since most of the action is for the Rainbow Trout, your best bet is either a bobber with a worm or powerbait or floating those same two baits up off the bottom at the north end of the lake. Near the middle the lake gets surprisingly deep, but the planted fish aren’t real bright and stay close to the top.
I like trolling around and what we found worked best was a 3/0 or 4/0 dodger with a gold lure drug behind it.
We haven’t fished Bosworth for Bass yet, so if you have any tips to pass along, drop a comment!
